District six museum - is a place of heritage and memory and offers the history of and dedication to the victims of forced removals during the apartheid era.

Unique to the city centre and of great curiosity to the visitor is the daily firing of the noon day gun. it is one of Cape Town's oldest traditions, and dates back to anchored ships.

Robben Island Prison Museum is the disused prison on Robben island where former South African President Nelson Mandela and many other black political dissidents were held. For a whole generation of black South African prisoners Robben island prison was an alternative political university and a shared experience. Today former political prisoners act as your guides at this World Heritage site. There are daily ferry trips to Robben island, weather permitting, leaving from the Clock Tower precinct at the V&A Waterfront. Allow 3,5 hours for your trip. The lighthouse on Robben Island was lit for the first time in 1865. Robben island was not always a political prison. It has been used as a military garrison with a network of underground tunnels and guns for harbour defense. It was also used as a leper colony and a prison dating way back. 
Where to book.  Tickets can be purchased at the Nelson Mandela Gateway at the V&A Waterfront. A 30 min ferry trip leaves every 30 mins from am to 3pm. Bookings 021 413 4200. This is a must do trip to look back into our history and see where we are going.
Robin island prison museum is an incorrect spelling. Robben is Dutch for seal which in English would be Seal island.

Table Mountain -  You can walk , climb, bike, abseil, hang-glide the mountain or take the elegant Swiss-designed 'Rotair'cable car for a panoramic view of Table Bay. The cable car is the easy way up to the upper cable station, which is situated at 1067m. The summit is marked by Maclear's Beacon at 1086m. Even in clear warm weather take a sweater or windbreaker, as it tends to be cool at that altitude. Once on top, viewing decks that literally hang visitors over the edge of the mountain offer wonderful photographic opportunities. Two Oceans Aquarium at the V & A Waterfront, with its more than 300 species of marine life, demonstrates the rich bio-diversity in the oceans that surround the Cape. You can also scuba dive with the sharks if you feel lucky.

Shark Cage diving - there are several operators operating from around Cape Town.

Walks - Cape Town offers trails on Table mountain, Devil's Peak, and the other mountains in and around Cape Town.

Paragliding, Hang gliding or Micro-lighting is the closest thing to owning your own pair of wings and the Cape Town environs offer a number of sites including Table Mountain and Lion's Head.

Boat Charters -  V&A Waterfront offers boat trips around the harbour and table bay. Deep sea angling, sailing is also undertaken from here.

Helicopter trips- Available from the V&A Waterfront around Cape Point, Table Mountain or Cape Town.

Castle of Good Hope - A unique combination of cultural and military history, exhibitions and military ceremonies awaits you at the castle. Also experience the dungeons, dolphin pool, blacksmith and above all the tranquil atmosphere of the castle. Built between 1666 and 1679, this pentagonal fortification is moving with the times. It hosts open air concerts, film and fashion shoots as well as a variety of venues for corporate functions and conferences.

Chapman's Peak Drive - Chapman's Peak drive between Noordhoek and Hout Bay on the Atlantic coast on the South Western tip of South Africa, is one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world. The 9 km route, with its 114 curves, skirts Chapman's Peak, the 593m southerly extension of Constantiaberg and follows the rocky coastline to unfold stunning views in both directions. The route was formally opened in 1922. It is now a toll road to pay for its upkeep.

Surfing - Long beach is a surfers paradise. Stretches from Kommetjie to Noordhoek.
